Daisy, Freya and Indie have become the winners in the second of our series of adopt a spirit animal competitions. For the start of the New Year we selected the Orangutan and the spirit of optimism and strength of will. Our adoptee is the gorgeous Mona, at www.orangutan.org, a small charity saving orangutans by protecting their tropical forest habitat, working with local communities and promoting research and education.
Mona shares her home at Camp JL with male orangutans Boy and Adib, and other females Nyunyu and Timtom, all a similar age. They are often seen playing together, climbing, and swinging in the trees!
“Conservation is more than protecting a species, it is about saving nature which includes us, 'the fifth great ape'. The efforts of all of us to prevent climate change will be seen as a defining moment in history, for humanity's sake and for the health of the whole planet. Tropical forests can play a significant role in guarding against climate change”.
Ashley Leiman OBE, Founder & Director/Trustee
We will be running our third adoption prize in March 2022 for a tiger, the spirit of courage.
